# S4 FPGA / S3 ARM hardware record

## Release authorization — September 17, 2026

After testing the S4 SD-card handoff, the owner reported:

> Fixed. Promote this ARM and this core as a release in our git. I will do more testing tomorrow

This authorizes release **setup-s4-20260917**, pairing FPGA
**PI FMG260917S450Mhz** with ARM **MM2609S3**. In the context of the reported
navigation flashes and S4's targeted change, the fix is recorded as confirmed
by the owner. The release preserves the tested binaries without a rebuild.

## Test sequence and image identity

- The owner approved the compact, centered S2 menu and Minimig cross logo.
- On ARM S3, the owner confirmed the CPU clock was displayed correctly.
Sporadic line flashes remained across the Amiga picture when navigating
the OSD; the stationary picture was crisp and stable.
- S4 removes Amiga memory-bus ownership from MIA version/status reads.
CPU/cache logic, clocks, menu layout and the S3 ARM binary are unchanged.
- At 01:27 Toronto time on September 17, the S4 FPGA was copied to the
existing card, read-back SHA-256 verified and safely unmounted. The ARM
upgrade file, saved settings and disk-image files were preserved.
- The subsequent owner report above confirms the fix and requests release.

FPGA BIN SHA-256:

ARM UPG SHA-256:

## Follow-up testing

Before S4, one Normal 7 MHz boot stopped at an empty Workbench desktop;
a second attempt succeeded. The latest short report does not separately
confirm repeated cold boots or establish the cause of that intermittent
failure. Keep repeated 7 MHz cold boots on the next test session's list.
The owner plans more testing tomorrow; release promotion is their explicit
decision, not a claim that every mode and device has been exhaustively tested.

The owner's earlier low SysInfo readings were traced to uncached fast RAM.
They enabled the existing slow-RAM priority command in `S:User-Startup` and
closed that performance concern. Preserve that command and use the same
memory configuration for comparisons.

This report adds no new accelerator or raw-partition hardware test result.
Historical R7 TF534/68SEC000 results remain in the
[R7 hardware record](r7-hardware-results.txt). Simulations and timing audits
for S4 are recorded in the frozen release evidence and
[implementation note](setup-s4.txt).
